Painting Landscapes

Would you like to make the landscape your own? Learn and apply a simplified approach to landscape painting, using a limited palette and water–soluble acrylic paints.

This all comes from a perspective of non-judgement – it's important to tame the inner critic in order to be creative! We paint in a spirit of discovery and experimentation.

Learn how to create a landscape painting from a photograph
Learn how to choose your palette, mix colors, and create beautiful color harmonies
Learn how to begin – and where to take it from there, working with the big shapes in the painting
Learn how to approach composition and design
Learn how to give your landscapes the illusion of distance
Learn the inner game of painting (how and why to tame your inner critic)

By the end of the class, you will have a landscape painting to take home with you. This class is designed for people with at least some previous painting experience.

Date & time: Saturday – to be scheduled
10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – bring your lunch!

Location: Calistoga Art Center, Napa County Fairgrounds, Cropp Building, 1435 North Oak Street, Calistoga, CA

Cost: $85, materials not included – CAC members receive a 10% discount
