Introduction to Abstract Landscape Painting — 11-2021

​Discover the magic of painting abstract landscapes!

In this 5-hour virtual workshop, you will discover:

• the one essential element of every landscape painting
• 3 different ways to approach abstract landscape painting
• how to simplify and loosen up your landscape painting
• how to paint from your imagination
• how to get in touch with your inner creative four-year-old, have fun, and explore new possibilities ​​

We'll also look at different kinds of painters, and how who you are as a painter influences what you do and how you make art.

Why? Because knowing who you are as a painter helps you discover and develop your own style — your own unique visual voice.

We'll be working from imagination and memory, but you can apply what you learn to painting from visual references, too.

And we'll start out simply — and then there are plenty of ways that we can get more complex (if you want to)....

This is not about you painting like me — it's about you getting new ways to expand your own painting, to paint more like YOU!

Before we meet, you'll also receive access to videos and handouts about:

• Choosing the colors of your palette (my secret sauce for great color, and one of the secrets of great color harmony!) 
• How to mix colors — including how to mix browns and grays
• Different kinds of paintbrushes and what they do
• How to prepare your materials for painting, so you can be ready to put it all into action during the workshop!

​This class is for both beginners with some painting experience and more advanced painters who want to try a fresh perspective.

I'll be working in acrylics, but what we'll be doing also applies to other painting media.
