Adventures in Mixed Media:
Paint, Paper, Stencils, Collage, Texture, & More
Taught by Karen Lynn Ingalls
Possibly coming around again in 2016 Would you love to simply dive into paint, without worrying how things will turn out? If so, this workshop may be perfect for you!
You will learn different methods of applying and layering acrylic paints, washes, and glazes, as we work on both watercolor papers and canvas board.
You will discover how to include collage elements, such as art and scrapbook papers; music; fabric; strips torn from magazines or newspapers; quotations; and photocopies of old photographs or old books.
You will experiment with a variety of relief printing techniques, using an assortment of tools – including some you will make yourself – to create interesting patterns, designs, and textures.
You will also be able to try out some acrylic texture mediums, to learn how to use and apply them, and to see the effects they create.
In addition, you will be able to experiment with stencils, and learn simple ways to create your own stencils.
In the process, you will create both a mixed media painting on canvas board, and your own beautifully painted and textured papers, which you can turn into collage sheets to use in future paintings and mixed media pieces.
And you'll head for home with a whole toolbox of techniques that you can apply in future paintings!
This day is about playing with the elements of art in creative and experimental ways, and is designed for both beginning and experienced painters. It's a great way to give yourself a creative jump start! Call to reserve a spot, or sign up online!
